Deep Thoughts on the Superintendent

We have received several e-mails from Park Watch Watchers who were disgusted by the analysis of Superintendent Gurban's performance reviews. Or more correctly, lack of analysis. We will be watching tonight to see if other Commissioners think Mr. Gurban's performance should be a consideration in whether or not to extend his contract. I am sure prospective candidates for the hasty and ill-considered search for his replacement will also be interested in whether or not performance is something our new Park Watch Commissioners think is important.

  2. The "new Minneapolis Park board" has made a huge mistake by not extending the contract of Jon Gurban. The new members of the board are pathetic and I see the MPRB going downhill. I'm also wondering how the board president is doing on his campaign promises to have no player fees and free parking??? Some people will say anything to get elected. Why can people post comments on minneapolisparkwatch.org ???

  3. Note to person who commented, "wow that was a super deep thought..." I think the title "deep thoughts" was a satirical comment on the uter lack of deep thought in the Park Watch Board's kangaroo court proceedings.

  4. I've been involved with the parks (more than most commisioners) 24 years and yeah, I'm upset about Gurban losing his job and the promises John Erwin made. Why Doesn’t the minneapolisparkwatch.org website allow comments? Are they afraid of possible negative comments your site isn't?

  5. minneapolis parks are the best in the country and this anonymous blogger has nothing better to do than disparage it. who is paying you to attack minneapolis?

  6. You are correct when you say it's the best in the country. Jon Gurban led the way making it the best and now they get rid of him. Many of the new commissioners never spent much time IN the parks, they just went to meetings and complained. Oh, and no one is paying me I just feel bad for the kids of the city.

  7. if you want to do something good for kids, stop wasting your time making anonymous personal attacks on people trying to improve their community. spend your time coaching or other volunteering or something productive. just a thought. with gurban only being around for about 5 years of a 120+ year old park system, i don't credit yoru argument that he's the source of the greatness.

  8. I've probably done more in this city than 98% of it's citizens to help kids and the parks. The people with mplsparkwatch.org only go to meetings and complain they don't spend time IN the parks. The Superintendent is the leader and should receive some credit.

  9. we're talking about you right now, not everyone else. why do you think it's good a good thing for you to have an anonymous blog where you lob silly bombs at people making a genuine attempt to improve their city? whether you agree or disagree, why do you harbor such negative emotion against park commissioners you disagree with? and what does the park board have to do with park watch?

  10. I do not know who is involved in the previous comment dialogue. We started ParkWatchWatch to counter ParkWatch lobbing their silly bombs at people making a genuine attempt to improve their city. ParkWatch members Liz Wielinski and Anita Tabb now serve on the very board they have been attacking over the years, now, essentially, living in a glass house. ParkWatch favorite John Erwin is now the President of the Park Board. That's what the Park Board has to do with ParkWatch.

  11. there is no we. there is only you. you are the only writer on this blog and you are the only member of park-watch-watch. you write comments here anonymously and then you reply to yourself anonymously. you don't even live in minneapolis.

  12. All these blogs are anonymous except one? How do you know that anonymous doesn't live in minneapolis?
